This area is also known as Berry - the old name for this region.
This is also geographically the Southern Loire Valley, the area located midway between the River Cher and the River Creuse both rivers being tributaries of the Loire.
La Chatre is well located 24 miles from Autoroute A20 (the Paris - Limoges Road) which can be accessed at Chβteauroux or further south in the direction of Limoges.
Access by air is at Limoges, Poitiers and Tours Airports.
Calais is 350 miles a 5 hour, mainly autoroute drive.
Caen ferry port is 260 miles.

Mains water and electricity are connected. Mains drainage is connected. Rose Cottage and Violet Cottage are fully double glazed, La Maison is predominantly double glazed.
Heating to the main house is by way of electric heaters and two wood burning stoves (one in the ground floor Living Room, one in the first floor Second Sitting Room/Studio).
Heating to the 4 bedroom cottage and the 1 bedroom cottage are by electric heaters.
In the village are grocers, a newsagents/tabac, a butcher and a hairdresser, there is also a public lake for carp fishing and horse riding facilities close at hand.
There are two larger lakes within about 20 miles. Lake Eguzon in the Limousin was created some years ago by damming the river Creuse to provide hydro-electric power and leisure/tourism facilities. This lake which is many miles long offers many activities including pedaloes, speedboats, windsurfing, kayaking, sailing boats and water skiing. There are also several beaches for safe swimming.
20 miles in the direction of the mountains is a village called Sidiailles where there is another large man-made lake for swimming boating and fishing.
There are designated routes close-by for cycling, rambling and horse riding.
